Indicted KY Attorney Eric C Conn appeared to be a godsend to people that were initially rejected by the Social Security Administration for disability benefits. Now according to the attached ABC News Article hundreds of past clients that may or may not be entitled to benefits are now in dire financial straits. The Social Security administration sent out hundreds of letters to past clients alleging fraud and warning of suspension of benefits. Many had their benefits suspended and are left with no income.
There are now about 150 volunteer attorneys representing Conn’s former clients attempting to keep benefits or get them restored. If fraud is proven, likely Conn’s past clients will have to repay benefits. This is a dramatic example of how unethical behavior has consequences well beyond the law.
